CURACAO CHAPTER RECEIVES 2 AWARDS AT ANNUAL HSMAI LEADERSHIP
Colorado Springs, March 27, 2008: HSMAI Curaçao Chapter board represented by Director Steven Damiana and President Tamira La Cruz were awarded with the best Small Chapter in the category of websites as well as the category of partnerships. Leaders all over the world were able to echo the name of Curacao receiving these awards during the Annual HSMAI International Leadership conference March 25-2,2008 entitled “ Reaching higher grounds: Exploring new heights” that saw over 170 leaders from all over the US as well as Caribbean, Central America and South Asia Pacific.
More than 170 top industry leaders of the 25 different chapters present were able to accept the different winners in the categories which were all judged by other international chapters. Besides the 2 awards, Curacao won also the special honored prize of chapter with the highest rate of retention in the whole of HSMAI International chapters all over the world. The chapter of the year resulted to be the HSMAI Mid South Chapter ( cities such as Memphis, etc.).
The Annual Leadership meeting had meetings for the different chapter Managing Directors and conducted several workshops, trainings and presentations on how to work in a team, characteristics of leaders, energy management for hospitality leaders, motivation of volunteers and culminated in a formidable Chinese Auction which funds will go to the HSMAI Foundation. From Curacao, Superclubs Breezes Curacao donated an impressive prize, followed by Floris Suite Hotel and destination management company Explore Curacao.

Hsmai curacao chapter will be honored with a silver award
NEW YORK, NY (DECEMBER 3, 2007) – The Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) will recognize HSMAI CURACAO CHAPTER with a Silver Award for web marketing namely the website www.hsmaicuracao.org designed by Dragonfly Media for its winning entry in the annual Adrian Awards Competition.
HSMAI will pay tribute to HSMAI CURACAO CHAPTER during the 18th annual HSMAI Adrian Awards Show – a gala black-tie dinner to be held on Jan. 28, 2008 at the New York Marriott Marquis, with an expected attendance by 1,000 hospitality, travel and tourism industry and marketing executives.

Background: Fatima de Windt-Ferreira (37) is an Audit
and Advisory Business Services partner of Ernst & Young Netherlands
Antilles and is based in Curacao. She has 15 years of experience in
public accounting and works primarily in the (offshore) mutual/hedge
funds industry and the hospitality industry. Fatima is a graduate
of the University of the Netherlands Antilles, with a major in accounting.
She obtained her license to practice as a certified public accountant
in Atlanta, U.S.A. Fatima is the treasurer of the Youth Fund Netherlands
Antilles, a non-profit organization aimed at the development and welfare
of the Antillean Youth.

Greg Hoyos started his first Caribbean advertising agency in 1970
with regional clients including Colgate-Palmolive and Barclays Bank.
Creatively, he has won five CLIO awards, including gold statuettes
for Barclays Bank and others. In 1981 he published a book on marketing
in the Caribbean, “Marketing and Demand”, later used in
University of the West Indies Management courses, and hailed by UWI
Professor Stan Reid as the “best book ever on Caribbean marketing”.
In 1982 he relocated to Sydney, Australia and spent the next eight
years as a Director of Leo Burnett, then DDB Worldwide, where he was
also national new-business director of DDB up to his departure in
1990.
In Australia, he wrote a popular marketing column for the national
advertising-and-media newspaper B&T Weekly, and in a 1987 poll
of senior clients conducted by the Australian Financial Review, he
was voted 4th of the Top 10 “Outstanding Advertising Personalities
in Australia” (the only non-Aussie to make the list).
On his return to the Caribbean he re-established a regional agency,
soon linked into the Omnicom Group, and now representing DDB Worldwide,
BBDO and media giant OMD in all the English, French and Dutch countries
throughout the region. Clients include Exxon Mobil, FedEx, FirstCaribbean
Bank, McDonald’s and Nokia.
He is a regional marketing columnist and is currently writing a second
book on Caribbean marketing.

On Thursday January 18 2007, the Curacao Chapter held its first
Chapter Event.
The venue took place at the Breezes Hotel and topics included 'Get more customers using Search Engine Optimization', 'Web site Best Practices', 'Benefits of e-mail marketing', and 'Integrating Digital and Print Marketing'. The presentation was done by Sport Diver and Islands Magazine.

HSMAI Curacao was proudly launched on August 29th, 2006 as the first
Caribbean Chapter of the HSMAI.
For individuals involved in the hospitality industry, HSMAI is dedicated
to help improve them both professionally and personally. HSMAI is
a global organization of sales and marketing professionals representing
all segments of the hospitality industry. With a strong focus on education,
HSMAI has become the industry champion in identifying and communicating
trends in the hospitality industry while operating as a leading voice
for both hospitality and sales and marketing management disciplines,
as well as connecting its members with customers.
