Understanding that travel has become more difficult for U.S. travelers in this tough economy, Curacao is putting “vacations” back into reach. The island is launching its high profile awareness building campaign on March 16th via the dedicated website, www.curacaotreasure.com. U.S. consumers who visit the site will have the chance to learn more about Curaçao and all its hidden treasures and have the opportunity to enter to win one of 70 trips to be awarded daily. Anyone who registers on the site may ultimately be one of only ten finalists chosen to participate in an on-island Treasure Hunt in August 2009 with a grand prize of a half million dollars! (more…)

Chapter event ‘Using Technology to Save Time’ well attended!
Thursday, January 29th, 2009Last Tuesday January 28, we organized an event with subject “ Time Management” with the support of the Floris Suite Hotel.
Opening speaker Mr. Lionel Anthony, managing director LA Consultancy started off with information on how to use time effectively giving tips to the participants touching upon the subject of time management without the use of technology to achieve their goals.
Mrs. Monique Raphaela-Boezen and Mr. Ricardo Lochan of Stimul – IT continued elaborating on the subject using examples of technologies that can support time management. Surprising tips came up that participants were able to note to improve their effective performance as well as have some time to use for quality time in higher priorities.
The main goal of this event was helping the professionals in and outside of our hospitality and tourism industry in Curacao to know how to better use their time in order to get closer to achieving the goals they have sent for themselves in 2009. Presentations of this events are available on www.hsmaicuracao.org/02.html

Chapter members ‘Walk for the Roses’
Monday, January 26th, 2009On January 25, some Chapter membes participated in the ‘Walk for the Roses’.
The Ride, Swim, & Walk for the Roses event is generally organized for two reasons:
1. to collect funds in order to assist the Princess Wilhelmina Foundation in their efforts to help combat cancer and
2. to help promote the thought that cancer not always translates to the end.

‘Cancer is curable’ it’s not a myth; it’s a reality in many cases.
During the events of The RIDE, The SWIM, & The WALK for the Roses the topic that will be most focused on is survival. Surviving this terrible disease is possible!
This year marked the fifth time that the Ride for the Roses Events was organized and the way the community has been sustaining these events en mass is an extremely positive sign.
Every year the event has shown a substantial growth. Not only in the amount of participants, but also in the amount of funds collected and in the awareness of the public with regards to the importance of early detection of cancer. Prevention has almost become the magic word. The Princess Wilhelmina Foundation puts all its efforts – coincidentally, this year they celebrate their 60th anniversary – into prevention. With the funds collected by The Ride for the Roses Events, PWF will be able to accomplish even more..
